Pretty good design, well done!
I just got to the footer and I really that. To be honest there isn't a lot that I can suggest, but I feel that your site is good, but not quite great. It's a little boxy, and lacks anything to really set it apart from all the other blogs out there. Hopefully your header contest will give you a really unique, striking header design to help you brand yourself.
I would personally get rid of the border for your content div and just have a white background, this might free up your layout a little.
