Can't you capture the load event on each tab?
If not the best way that i can think of is to separate each tab to it's own dataset. i.e. you only need fields 1-20 for tab 1, well then there's your dsTab1 = fields1-20.
Then whenever tab1 loses focus or gains focus, do an update/select respectivley?
