Bid directory is a pretty good idea, but make sure you build it the right way, market each individual category so that the people placing links in the category will actually gain value from their submission. I have had a pretty nice success with 1 of my bidding directories that produces about $400+ a month without any promotion besides my initial maketing campaign when it was first built!
