Ya for this kind of shooting, RAW is the way to go.

As for Photoshop... For casual use, naw, it's probably not worth the money and learning curve. I've no doubt PSP is more than adequate enough. If you wan't opinions from those who've used both (because I've never used PSP) feel free to ask this in the Graphics Forum, you'll get some good insight there (:
