Either way, if it validates, then it should be fine. If you're concerned about the end product being SEF, I'm sure there are plenty of people here who wouldn't mind wandering through the site to make sure everything is okay in that respect.

Both HTML and XHTML can be used to create SEF sites. I would lean more to XHTML, however...
