Twice because he was the strongest, most desirable candidate running at the time.

Lots of presidents have low approval ratings by the second term. They've spent years and years being attacked daily by whoever the opposition is and being blamed for everything from world politics to soap scum rings. They typically have a much higher retrospective approval rating, and Bush will be remembered as a president with backbone who did what had to be done and was the right man for the job at the time.

Don't forget that the Reagan, the greatest president of our time, was attacked daily by the liberals using most of the exact same attacks they use against Bush. They smeared Reagan as a liar (just like with Bush) called him an idiot (just like with Bush), called him a international bully (just like with Bush) for calling for the wall to come down, and branded him as a power hungry war monger (just like with Bush) for building arsenals to intimidate and protect against Russia.

The short of it is that Democrats aren't all that creative. Bush certainly is no Reagan, but the libs are using the same lame smear lines.

They whined through 8 years of the Clinton administration and whined through 8 years of the Bush administration. Get the pattern here? Those who wallow in self defeat live for the next "gimme", not the next opportunity. Who's in office really doesn't matter, they mostly only care that someone is willing to think for them, feed them, house them, and tell them everything will be OK.
