When it comes to domain age, the older the better. Same goes with the website age. If you have a domain that has been sitting there for 10 years and no website content is ever built, then the website age can be a big factor. Bottom line - the longer search engines know about your domain and more importantly your site, the more likely you have better rankings.

Having said that, domain age and website age play only a minor role in term of rankings. There are other factors that are more important.
