That is absolute rubbish. What news are you talking about or did you just make this up?
Google have removed recommending submitting to DMOZ and Yahoo from their guidelines; BUT a Google staffer (John Mu) specifically said do not read into this anything more than they just removed it from recommending it. ... nothing about devaluing it.
