Google to allow gambling related ads?

There is a lot of money in gambling. Do you think this will mean more revenue for Adsense publishers?

We're constantly reviewing the categories of ads available to our AdSense publishers in order to provide access to a wide range of possible advertisers. Towards this goal, beginning on September 27, we're expanding the inventory of Google ads eligible to show on the AdSense network to include gambling-related ads from trusted advertisers.

They already show them from properly licensed US casinos.

My experience is they pay better than average but nothing to write a blog post about.

Yes, they should not really allow this kind of ads as there are lots of kids browsing the internet. These are not good for minors.

Google is now allowing AdSense publishers to opt in to display certain types of gambling ads in some geographic locations. In 2008, the company loosened some of its restrictions on gambling ads in search. The latest change takes place tomorrow, September 27

I received it in an email from the Google Adsense team, here is the full email:

Hello,

Please note that the AdSense program policies will continue to prohibit the placement of ads on sites that accept money or allow users to place bets in exchange for an opportunity to earn cash or other prizes, directly from the site. In addition, these new ads will only be shown to users in regions where gambling is legal, which is determined by the location of the end-user. A full list of these locations can be found at the following link: http://adwords.google.com/support/aw...&answer=176014. Finally, publishers may not opt in to receiving ads from this new category if their sites are intended for individuals under 18 years of age.

If you're interested in allowing gambling ads to appear on your site and you feel it's a fit with your content and audience, you can opt into this category within your AdSense account. As a reminder, you have control over the categories of ads that can appear on your site. You can always check your category filtering options and make changes by following <a href="http://www.google.com/adsense/support/as/bin/answer.py?answer=164131">these instructions</a>. Well it is a long debate of ethics that has been neglected if google really choose to show these kinds of advertisements because then many other industries might also want to get in through google adsense.

Gambling is a legal business in more states than I can name without research. Why shouldn't Google allow them to advertise on sites not geared toward minors?

A legal business has a right to advertise its product or services.

It's good to see Google allowing this now. Although i still will not enable this on my own blog. Google will increase there profit's now with the adwords user's bidding on gambling keywords..etc

It's a win win for both adwords and adsense publishers who are into this niche.

Now Google adsense have decides very strict rules, you can see in last three years trend of Google ads.
Google have banned many accounts in this time period because increasing fake clicks and many other issues.
Gambling is legal business and because of different policies of every country Google need to setup this criteria.

It's a good news. It's upto the publisher to decide whether to display those ad on their websites.
