Adwords is a BIG game.
You need to be very careful otherwise you may burn hands.
First of all read, the resources of Google Adwords and then test it with a small (limited) budget.

Ask yourself this ... If the vendors could make money by advertising their own products via adwords, why would they need affiliates?

Most of the "make money with adwords" stuff is BS

If you can't get free traffic from search results pages, and tempt the visitors into clicking through to the vendor's sites, then you won't make money by being an affiliate

Think yourself lucky you lost such a small amount of money and learned your lesson quickly

The people who make money from adwords is Google

You didn't take the time to learn what you're doing before leaping on board with Adwords

Would you do brain surgery without training? Become an electrician?

Of course not.

I make a lot of money promoting affiliate offers on Adwords, and now teach others how to do it too.

How can I do this? I took the time and invested in learning what I need to know.

Perry Marshal has a good course, and Chris Carpenter's Google Cash book is another good one.

Or you can even team up with an idiot like me and learn why/how I do so well :-)

One can make good money with affiliate. Best way is to attract organic traffic (free) and placed affiliate link in such a way that it get clicks.

Best way?

Surely you mean one way? Because it's not as quick to get results as Adwords, as one example.

I can set up an Adwords campaign in about two hours and have sales coming in the following day.

My several sites, which get great traffic, fully SEO'd takes much longer to achieve. 24 hours at best to get indexed, a couple of days to get some linking done, several months to get some authority in Googles eyes.

There's many ways to skin a cat, and many ways to succeed online, therefore I would council against using absolute terms like 'best' - especially when newbies may take your words as gospel and get sidetracked into an unprofitable sidetrack for months.

The only way that you are going to be successful with adsense and an affiliate product is if you already know how well it is selling. If you are promoting an affiliate product and can see that you are getting a XX% of sales. Then you have an idea of where to start with adsense. You can see how much profit is made off of 100 visitors and then bid accordingly on your keyword phrases.

I agree with StartbusinessMentor, doing some homework, not being dissuaded nor persuaded by one exposure, should provide much insight into which direction(s) may interest me. I'm new to this and would welcome any advice from you who know. I'd like to find something that can provide lots of detail in language I can understand. Thanks for the help.

I disagree with this. Perfectly possible to make money in Affiliate Marketing via Adwords.

The reason why many vendors struggle is because they don't have enough knowledge about using Adwords.
