Well, I would suggest you use the same strategy as you would for any personal social media profile.
Open accounts on facebook, twitter and google+ as a company and start updating your profile, posting relevant content, joining social media groups, following relevant and interesting people. Upload photos. Pimp up your profile!
Also, I would strongly advise you create a LinkedIn account. It is the new social network for businesses and a great way to meet people in the medium.
Good luck!

Direct publishing of affiliate offers / links on your personal accounts is a no-no. It will only help you lose your personal relations. May be create a professional account / page and get people to 'like' or 'follow' you by whatever method you want to.

es this is exactly what I talked about. Concentrate in opening an account for your company (a serious one) twitter, facebook and google+ can also be made as professional company pages, you just have to monitor the content and only follow really relevant people. Still, I would strongly suggest LinkedIn (again, just follow or connect with people that are relevant to your business's niche.

the main method described, you should give it time and work with a lot of patience to build your networks with friends, followers etc. So dont give up easy and after few months you will be satisfied with the outcome.

The most important thing that I hope to pass on here is make sure not to SELL ANYTHING on your Social Sites. Use them to connect with people and for people to connect with you. Talk about fun stuff, interesting stuff and things that make people think you're worth taking a second look at when they see your next post. Your goal should be to create enough interest that they want to see or hear more and that's when you point them to your blog where your sales and promotions are.

Social media is one of the most effective ways to promote an affiliate program. In SMO you’ll need to either make a page for your business or add an affiliate program to your own profile and update your profile on regular basis.

Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ should help you to a very large extent. Beyond that you can use directories and bookmarks as a tool. They can be very effective and result positively, if used in the right way.

If you have a budget, try facebook ads. It's very targeted.

The most important - to choose networks in accordance with your business. If you work on B2B market - LinkedIn + Twitter would be definitely more useful than Facebook. If you need to talk to your customers / fans directly - LinkedIn would be a worse decision.
And don't forget about Instagram and Pinterest accounts

Do not directly post affiliate links on social media. You must have a website with good content and affiliate links could be promoted through them. Create a Facebook page, twitter account etc for the site and get your visitors to like them / follow. Once you have a sizeable followers list, posts some interesting articles / coupons / delas / info and promote the page / profile via other methods as well.

I think it is not a bad idea to include the link to your website in your social profile area. That's because social profiles indeed rank higher in Google. Of course interacting with your friends is good too.

Good copywriting is how you sell on social media, and it's not by saying "hey guys check this out!". Talk about the benefits of your product instead of doing a typical hard sell.

Linkedin is mainly for business professional's. I use LinkedIn to connect with business owners and even looking for a full time job.
I'd stay away from trying to promote affiliate programs on there.
