I am also interested about this, can you add only books or any product?
For me the books are not a very good solution.
From what countries people are accepted. Can you target geographical, if the people is from uk to sell product from amazon uk, if is from us from amazon us.....
You need a bank account,Paypal?

You can use Amazon to sell lots of things they have almost anything you can think of. Geo-targeting to send UK visitor to the UK Amazon and a US vistor to the US is a little tricky but it can be done.
If you are thinking of creating a bunch of Amazon ads you should take a look at Triggit's Amazon link tool. Triggit enables you to create Amazon links really fast. Just highlight a word with your mouse and the tool automatically turns the text into a link to the right product at Amazon with your Amazon ID. Its really cool.
If you are interested you can check it out at http://www.triggit.com/amazon
The invite code is: simple

Geo-Targeting CANNOT be done by simply being an affiliate of Amazon.com, because Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com are 2 different entities. You must sign up and get an account with Amazon.com to sell to the US and Amazon.co.uk to sell to the UK.
Also, you can sell all kinds of products.

I've seen the amazon search boxes (160x160 maybe) if someone uses that search to find a product and they buy do you get a percentage? Sorry I have no idea about the Amazon program but I am interested in learning more too. Thanks

Cldnails, your right just being an Amazon associate does not enable geo-targeting. But it can be done. We are doing it in testing with Triggit created Amazon links. What you have to do though is determine where the individual who is viewing the ad is coming from and then display to them the appropriate ad for their country. It requires dynamically changing the URL destination for each user. But your right, them being separate entities is what requires us to go to all that trouble.
Micksss, yes if the person buys something you get a commission
Ryukenden, Amazon is like any other program it needs to be part of a larger ad strategy and selecting the right offers and targeting can require a bit of experimentation.
Good luck
Zach

I agree with cldnails. Some of the publishers who use Triggit to place Amazon ads are making great money. But it takes time and effort to find the right sorts of ads monetize an audience. Advertising can be hard work

Have never get any sale with amazon but really believe if doing the right thing we can do well. and experience will make that happen. it is all about understanding when and why people actually click the buy button. the amazon buy button is everywhere on the net but why they click button on that particular page not somewhere else.

I'm confused. When people say they make a bunch of money off of amazon's affiliate program, do they mean like amazon banner ads, or adwords-esque amazon product ads... Or is there some sort of affiliate program that you can like, for example, make a site devoted to book reviews, and get product feeds from them?

I've earned my biggest $$ from running a script called AOM(associate-o-matic) which creates a store front, complete with customer cart. However, when the visitor checks out they are actually checking out at Amazon and I get commission.
