Thumbs down I need help starting an affiliate program for my site! :-(

Hello,

I need help starting an affiliate program for my site! :-(

I have a successful site already on it's own, but I need to take it to the next level. How/what do I need to get started to have people start trying to sell my products as affiliates.

I am so lost I don't know where to start. Anything would be helpful, I would be willing to compensate someone for taking the reigns and help me out.

I don't know if I can post my site name, as It's not intended to be a link just so people understand what I do to provide sound advice, if it's not appropriate, please remove it.

Thanks for the help! I am so lost!

It all depends how much you have to invest in it.

You could contact one of the affiliate networks, the largest like CJ being pretty pricey for small businesses to operate their affiliate program through them. But their are smaller networks that offer good secure services for cheaper prices.

It will cost you something at the end of the day anyway.

Affiliate marketing can be a great way to get your business out to many interested websites. Some of the affiliate marketing companies out there are Commission Junction, Linkshare, Performics, Share-A-Sale, and many more. You can do it internally if you like but then you loose the ability of listing with those companies which will get you on more sites. If you are interested in doing it internally I would be interested in helping you explore that possibility.

Yes CJ is pretty pricey and as far as clickbank goes you will need to set up an initial start up cost with them. However there is something out there that is starting to catch on. If you are going with just a 1-teir affiliate program (which from your site and what I have seen of it, that is your best bet unless you are going to add on) you could always research pay dot com. They are absolutely free of charge and they work in conjunction with paypal.

i hope this helps you out a little bit,

I would go with ClickBank myself. Fairly solid and I have used them before and had no issues.

For a start, it is better to go along with CJ, Shareasale, etc. Only when your sales pick up and you can justify the high setting up cost, then you set up your own affiliate program.

Affiliate networks will give you a headstart as you will have access to affiliates automatically.

On the other hand operating your own affiliate system gives you a lot more versatility, but you have to do extra work to recruit affiliates. If you want to run your own I recommend either JRox or Post Affiliate Pro software.
