The term "viral video" is funny to me. It just means that people send the video to other people. It does not mean that the video was funny or bad. Viral just means the video was spread. And how many people have to spread the video before it becomes viral? Does posting the video on a blog or forum count as spreading it? Or does the video have to spread through email to be viral?
There are so many ways to do your videos. It depends on the market you want to tap into. Do you want your videos to be funny, serious, relaxed or professional?
As for visiting websites, what got me into making videos was after watching someone else. After about the 10th video this other person released, he lost direction. So I took his basic idea and ran with it.
The important thing is to know your market. What group of people are you trying to reach? I have no interest in attracting anyone less then around 21 years old. My target group is 21 - 60+, white male, hunters, campers, people that like to to go camping, hiking. The secondary group are people that are concerned about the situation our nation and our planet is in. If your worried about some kind of disaster, such hurricane, war, disease or nuclear strike, you are the type of person my videos are pointed towards.
I know my target groups. And as a result I try to make a wide range of videos that target as many people from that group as possible.
