Feedburner?

I just started using feedburner, mainly as a way for readers to subscribe to email updates. The problem is, feedburner sends the entire post, which negates the entire purpose, as i'm trying to get the readers to visit the site more often.

Is there a way to tweak this feature in feedburner, or are there recommended newsletter plugins for wordpress?

And does feedburner do much for traffic in general?

There is a really good WP plugin called Ozh' Better Feed that I use. I know it has the ability to truncate your blog posts in the feed as well as add other features.

Feedburner is a great service. The choice you'll need to make is whether to offer full blog posts in the feed or not.

Everyone will have their own opinion and from what I've seen, I personally feel it is better to offer the full feed. This is less of an issue now as you can monetize it. However, test it out and see what works best for you.

I can't find the article anymore, but I've read a very good article on this topic, comparing the two options: full post vs. preview only.

Turns out it made no difference at all in terms of visitors. Offering full posts didn't result in less visitors. In fact, on some blog, offering a full feed resulted in more visitors, as some readers really hate preview only so they got scared away, while readers of the full post still visited the blog to comment...
