How do I drive more traffic to my niche site?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post on the forum, so I hope that I can get some great advice while giving some useful info.

I have a niche website, RacingForTheWin.com, built on the Joomla! CMS. It is a site meant to provide motorsports information to race fans. The problem I am running into is driving traffic to the site. I have one article on there that is highly ranked on google, which brings some traffic in. I know that people suggest advertising on other forum sites, but many forums ban this kind of promotion.

What can I do to drive some traffic to my site?

Social Networking! Join social networks like facebook, friendster, etc. Invite people interested in racing to visit your site!

Step out of the stone and and step into the 21st century. Get into the video blogging thing. If you have a nitch site, look into video reviews, video articles and get them posted on youtube.

I recommend social media. It will drive traffic to your niche site.

I use Twitter. I love to post links to informative articles on Twitter, among other kinds of posts. I use URL shorteners, which often have stats. Thus, I can tell how many hits a particular link gets. A few of my Tweeted links got 80 hits in 24 hours. This is useful because I can tell from the number of hits to each of my links what it is my audience likes, and tailor my posts to that metric.

You can too. You can drive a lot of traffic to your sites using Twitter. Just remember, help other people out on Twitter as much as you can, and tweet mostly other blogs' links, links that are useful to your audience. Tweet only the links to your best blog posts and do that very OCCASIONALLY.

You'll develop traffic and a group of followers on Twitter to boot! Those nice folks might even start twittering your blog links!! So write really great blog articles. I am always on the look out for more blogs to tweet about! If you have a blog about blogging, PR, marketing, social media, gadgets, technology, the conversation age, I really need to know about your blog!! I have an IPB forum where I keep lists of these kinds of blogs. I love to read all of your great blog articles then tweet 'em for potentially MILLIONS of people to read. Then they'll bookmark your articles and subscribe to your blog, all with no extra effort on your part! And no, I am selling nothing.
