pinging help needed
whats pinging and how it works?

can anyone please explain in detail about the "ping" thing. my wp theme is already set to ping automatically, so i never really learned or understood the idea.

what dose pinging do? dose it show some sites your new article or whatever? if yes, how do you find sites to ping to? i mean are there any ping services website or any site you chose you can ping to? and when pinged to a site dose it mean it will have a link back to your article from that site?



another thing is like using soft wares for pinging. like you want to ping an article of your on ezine top inflate the number of times its seen, what sites do you choose to do that?

By using a pinging service, you notify blog directories your blog has been updated.

You do have to be careful that the different pinging services you use don't ping the same blog directories.

Keep in mind that there a nearly thousands of pinging services out there as well. A little more research and you should find a great list of them here to use. Wordpress sites love an individual line for each service though.

Now there is no need to use pinging service each time for the update of your pages because search engine get the update automatically.

Ping notifies about the new content posted on a blog.

Pinging websites connect 100s, some 1000s of websites and inform them that so and so blog or site has been updated. So come and please crawl this site and index the valuable content.

That's simple to let you know, Pinging solves complicated XML-RPC procedure.
