How to promote my blog?

Hello, I have a website mystudytable.com which is mainly forum based. But recently I have included blog facilities. I don't have much traffic in my website. Does anyone can suggest my how to improve the condition? A please reply would be much appreciated.

Why i don't waste my time on asking the same thing "how to promote" is that, the time you spend on asking, you can scan through many tips here, what i try is to read better then write.. i'm not being rude to you but there are many tips and suggestions over the forum just see thru you'll get many..

And one more thing why people don't get enough traffic even after reading is only 20-30% of people apply other reads and forget.

By the way, why are your blogs members only wouldn't it be better if they are public. May be i see some interesting blogs there and interested in contributing, but with members only i may just leave the site.. oh its my personal view ..

@drmike, Thanks for your advice. I did that and got much useful information also. But I thought this would be more noticeable and earlier way to get my answer and wipe off confusions. That’s it.

Yup we all fail because we just like jump from one method to another method of promotion thinking that the newest the better without actually sticking to few methods and taking action. So scan those tips here and take few at a time and start working on it.

It happens i did the same thing before.. scanning many tips at once trying to apply one then i see another.. like to jump to another then another then another..so not any tips were applied to my site 100%. So be focused and work on few complete it and jump to another. This was my mistake i learned now.. But its never late.. hihihi

I think the two easiest and most effecient ways to drive traffic to your blog is simply to make comments on other blogs within your niche and to participate in forums related to your niche.

Those two will not only drive traffic but begin to improve SERPS which is your long term goal for traffic.

If you stick with blog commenting and social bookmarking you will do just fine. but then once you get that rolling and you have some free time do forum postings in niches similar to yours and build a following on facebook and twitter.

You put this well. Links from blog commenting and forums are likely to drive some traffic, and give a little boost to SERPs. Note the emphasis on a little. People often greatly overestimate the value of forum links. I have tons, thousands to be a little more exact, and it has a negligible effect on my SERPs. I rank well for most of my target terms on my home page, but that's from years of link building. It's not from forum links, and I can prove it.

If forum links were much help, I would rank well for 'seo copywriting' and I don't. Why not? Because the only links I have for that term come only from forums.

Forums are excellent for establishing your reputation. I have gotten a lot of business over the years by helping someone who started a thread on some basic SEO issue or who lurked and liked what I had to say.

Put your best foot forward when you blog comment and post on forums. The value you are most likely to get is traffic and business. Offer information, try to help others, and you will gain many times over what you put into it.

Of course people that are posting on webmaster forums for only link building purpose's usually don't last to long on them.


Having a signature link and posting quality content along with helping other members out with there issues willl eventually get you traffic since curious members will sometimes check out ones signature links.

Writing articles is a great way to get a quality backlink and long term traffic. It maynot bring in large amounts of traffic fast but it's one of the ways to market a site. Lot's of good advice i see already in this thread. MJ's advice is very good by the way.

I'd get rid of that splash page on your site... you want the least number of steps to your call to actions as possible.

Your site looks well established, you say you want more traffic to your site? Well have you done the keyword research to know if there are actually people searching for the topics you're writing about?

If you're looking for free ways... well this forum is choc-full of them. I'd actually recommend submitting your site to the Yahoo! directory for around $300 to give more authority to your domain, from that you'll find your individual blog posts have more chance of ranking without going through individual promotion for each one.

Obviously if it's a competitive niche you'll want to do both but I've had great success with just submitting to Yahoo! and enjoying the extra authority it gives to your site.

you need to do social bookmarking to help make your blog more popular. Go to somewhere like digg and put in a news article and the url you put in should be your blogs url. Also the key about being successful with blogs is to receive alot good backlinks. The Best way to get backlinks is to write articles and in the resource box put the url of your blog and tell people why they should visit. Try to give free information out on your blog or free tips. If you wrote an article that was relevant to your blog and in the resource box you told them they could get something free, you would have people running to your blog to check out the information.
