pinging how good is it?

i have heard of ping or pinging and i have also being to this site call pingomatic.
please i want to know if pinging my blogs will bring good traffic to my blogs and if it will how do i go about it. please help me
And i will be very happy if you can give some list of other pinging websites that you have used before that brought you good result

Pinging sites don't deliver traffic to websites/blog. They are use for indexing purposes only.

Whenever you update your blog with new content ping inform to server that your blog or site updated..

You may want to try Ping.fm. It will syndicate your pings (or notifications) to a number of blog aggregation sites. The sites then may include your posts in their feeds. I am not sure how much traffic it generates. In our blog, less than 10% of traffic is derived from these sources. Most traffic comes from people linking directly to the blog in their blogs, forum posts or site.

Sorry got my sites confused. http://pingomatic.com/ is the site that notifies other. Ping.fm is for microblogging.

it's helpful foe search engine to send spider to your site n search for related contents

there's a plugin for wordpress that will ping MANY sites at once and they give you a pretty big list to start with. the only problem is that the list has many sites listed twice, and i don't think pinging the same place with the same content is a good idea.

pinging sites do not generate traffic.They are used for letting to know about updations done with website.
