I visit Digg at least once a day. Unfortunately, the few articles I have submitted never made it to the front page. I got a few hits (onesies and twosies)--no better than when I simply comment on somebody else's submission.
Digg users seem to be quite fickle. On one hand, through Digg I have found some of the best online resources available. On the other hand, the stories seem to be all over the place. For example, somebody might submit a funny video about a man getting hit in the groin by a frisbee--something more appropriate for "America's Funniest Home Videos". And it will get over 1000 diggs! How on earth does that happen?
But I haven't given up on Digg yet. In fact, I am planning to help promote a submission in the near future. (No, it's not for an Adsense site; just a regular, bricks-and-mortar business trying to raise its profile to the worldwide audience. And it's technology-related, so it should be appropriate for the Digg crowd.).
On a side note, I have also heard Digg mentioned as a social bookmarking site. Has anyone actually used Digg for that purpose? I mean, if you took it literally, and decided not to use Digg to generate traffic, but instead to save all your bookmarks, would you be accused of spamming Digg with uninteresting URLs? (But in that case, why do they promote themselves as a social bookmarking site?)
