Have you digged it yet?
I added a 5 blog entries on www.digg.com and received in return 185 unique visitors to my blog - not a large amount I know, but I thought if I can submit all of my blog entries to digg.com it would generate a good amount of traffic each week.
Have you used digg.com and what are your thoughts and experiences using it?

I plan on submitting something to dig when we have something that'll really get dug.

True - something controversal always works too
My first digg got the most of the 185 uniques because I said that they should ban alcohol on planes!

If you submit every blog post the people who read those digg pages regularly will notice and start modding your posts down (submit as spam or something like that). It's better to post only your best or most controversial content.

Can you only submit blogs to Digg or can you get traffic to your RSS feed or something too?

NO ALCOHOL ON PLANES??!?! Boy you must be young. Back in my day, travel on planes included LOTS of FREE alcohol, and flying was FUN. Passengers were happy, flight attendtants used to joke, laugh, smile and be happy. It used to be a big party in the air.
Anyway, no, I have not digg'd yet, but my blog is still new and really need to start writing some good content first.

Well I digg a few of my articles on my Redscowl Site but only those which are good. It brings good traffic and you can tell if people like it or not according to the diggs!

I did a shout & a Digg last week...
The digg was a video tutorial to be able to add an Alias to your Gmail account (decent traffic this month around 500 uniques)
then the kicker was the Google blog hacked! I blogged about that and immediately submitted it under tech on Shoutwire (which made the front page - which then is fed to torrentspy.com front page) And it got pulled cause I was out of town and not in front of my frickin pc's and didn't realize that 1.5 gigs of bw wasn't enough! GRrrrrrrrrrrr
I did however walk away with 3k+ uniques before it got pulled! not a bad 1st month out for a brand new blog

I'm thinking of converting to Shout, Digg is overated now and nobody diggs you after the first hour or so since people are always spamming...

I digged one of my posts last week. Even though my blog is about cufflinks I wrote a post showcasing the coolest techie cufflinks I could find such as USB cufflinks.
Only got 8 diggs so wasn't all that successful however I got about 110 visitors in 2 days which is a whole lot more than normal (pretty new blog)
Cheers
Mark

One of my sites has been Dugg twice now and each time they've sent me between 15,000 and 20,000 uniques in about 8 hours.
The first time it happened, the site ended up on Digg, Slashdot.org, Slashdot.jp, BoingBoing, Gizmodo, Dave Berry's blog at the Miami Herald and dozens of other blogs... all on the same day!
Over 100,000 uniques and 250,000 pageviews that day, but I was scrambling to set up a mirror just in case my server crashed or something.
Anyway, the trick to getting on the front page of Digg is to write well researched posts on something geeky, cool and controversial and use either supermarket tabloid style headlines, or tutorial style ones like "Top 10 ways to blah blah..." or "7 Freaky CSS Special Effects..." and use good photos or screenshots. Oh, pull any bigger pics in from your Flickr acct. too or the traffic load may crash your server, especially if you're on shared hosting.

I think I'm with you Ferre.
I've submitted a few of my own posts but they don't seem to be what the digg community are into.
Tried today with a mainstream article from our daily paper: The Rock God of the Puzzle World - the man behind Sudoku

I have had a few links dug...actually I submitted them...they all got about 10-20 digs, and a couple hundred uniques...all the traffic seems to be crap though...nothing converts and I made about $1 more than normal...barely worth the time to type a recap of the post.

Digg is great for submitting if you have solid content. If you are promoting a blog take a look at a few bookmarking services focused on blogs like Blogmarks.net.

I submit to Digg when I have an story/article/topic that fits into the Digg theme. However the technology I am submitting deals with cars and Ford Mustangs to be exact so I have never gotten front paged. I will give shout a try.
