Blogging is a lot like fishing. Some people do it all the time and never catch anything…while others catch everything.

Why is that? You know better than to say it is luck.

So let’s call it what it is…when you look around at successful blogs…whatever industry or topic…there are several undeniable basics to success.

And it starts with blog posts that kill it…rather than get killed. But what kills a blog post? Here’s a list of 12 things…ignore them and you will have a tough time being successful.

Good read, surprised that I was not guilty of all of those mistakes, but there are also a few that I could be doing a lot better.

9 through 12 would be where I really need to lift my game, especially 9. I'm a social media spastic and until a couple of weeks ago I had never even made a post on facebook.

Yes, My hobby is blogging with several niche. I like this to promote my product if any.

you have to start with the basics…namely, writing a killer blog post.

I think I'll do that... I should be able to out-compete the big boys in no time...

I've been reading these posts for a while, wasn't much new with this one, It's always good to check my recent posts against these check lists...

I like the point about large blocks of copy, I don't think that one can ever be stressed enough...

I run into those walls of text, and either skim down for something readable, or hit the 'back' button.

I'm wondering if there might be value in having internal paragraph links... I tried to link directly to point 8, and could not.

A point that I try to remember is the paragraph headers. I forget sometimes... the author included them, but didn't mention them.
Thinking up names for those headers... is usually something I find myself doing after posting...

Having subscribers means they see the original post before corrections...

Something else that the author didn't mention is how forum posting is about more than posting links. [point 9](social media presence)
Forum posting helps us DEVELOP our writing skills.
If people follow us to our blog posts from our forum postings, that's gravy.

Why would just writing matter, there are tons of good writers around, they dont make any money with blogging but freelance writing pays them more.

In fact, I have seen some good writers are really bad at blogging since they loose focus. only if they get a targeted research they work well.
