Promoting a blog is easy!
I've never known something so easy to promote - I've run a travel website for the past five years, and have strugged to get the profile of the business raised - I create a blog and I've had it featured in 2 magazines, a national newspaper.

Those reporters love blogs.

Got an email to call a reporter at another national newspaper, who are writing a feature about travel blogs and the impact of blogs on the internet, so I called the reporter, gave him some information, on the promise that he'll feature travel rants.

Article will be in the paper w.c 5 June.

I'm in top 10 for 'Travel blog' and 'Travel Blogs' in google.com without any effort on my part, I just blog.

Not sure how long that will last but the jump in visitors is great for now

Congrats Darren. I think the ease is a little industry dependent, but search engines do seem to like blogs. For anyone who likes to write and can write reasonably well it's worthwhile to add one to your site or build a site around a blog.

No illusions though. It's a lot of work to consistently post something that's hopefully worth reading, which makes Darren's achievement all that much more worthy of congratulations.
