Very handy resources, bearing in mind that no all of us have installed WordPress or similar blogs, so the need of introducing manual ping resources is limited to our knowledge... and no to your listings

Is there some sort of penalty if you accidentally ping a service twice for the same update? I haven't checked yet if pingomatic, autopinger, and that other multi-site one overlap on some sites?

We just made a new blog for one of our sites using wordpess. How often should I ping? Also what about advertisements, specifically adbrite or google ads?

You don't need to ping. Whenever you post a new article on your blog, the WordPress script automatically sends pings to Pingomatic.

By the way, what do you mean by advertisements?

Interesting, we have some other blogs for a few websites. Do you know if its worth pinging those. For example, blog.com, bloglines, blogspot. Is there a way to check if these are also automatic. As far as advertisements go, we have adbrite and google ads. We have been placing the adbrite ads at the footer in every post. The google ads run down the side. I can give you site URL " click here" so you can see it. It may make more sense. If you want you can email me if its easier. Thanks for reviewing it!
