Spam in blogs... does Google really fight it?

Once i descovered some blog with pr7.
It was just personal blog by some girl and i checked her backlinks....
All backlinks was from other blogs comments with pr4-8 pages and "nofollow" tag. I was thinking that i missed some good links...
Later i read article in PromotionWorld.

They made some research and promoted new website by spamming famous blogs. For some reason their website became pr5 and was 100% indexed by google.
What's wrong?

Actually Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and others take blog comment spam quite seriously. To a point where they finally agreed to host a meeting to discuss how to deal with this kind of spam. Which is the ONLY time these three actually met and sat down. I don't know how that experiment worked.

Well, spammers make money, that's the fact. Spamming blogs is something that searche engines are going to stop very soon if you ask me...

I sure hope so Angelus. I just put a wordpress blog up on wonderforum.com the other night and already have had 5 spam comments

Since every comment has to be manually moderated I'm hoping they will soon take the hint that their posts aren't coming through and stop, but I doubt that will happen.

The link http://www.promotionworld.com/se/art...ecrawling.html was very intersting aswell, but it was probably just a little bug with Google and I hope it's fixed now as it seems like a good method to stop this type of spam

First that was a great article and I like the interesting results you came up with. Second I am wondering if they will ever truely deal with this 100% in regards to the spamming. I know that on my blog I am adding in everything I can that will help filter it out before it becomes an issue. So hopefully it will not take hold as bad, but I am going to monitor as my new site grows and make sure that I edit it as needed.
