I kept declining things because I picked General for my blog category and they gave me stuff like ceiling fans and mailboxes.

Your feed address is: http://aracari.com/wordpress/?feed=rss2
You may want to check out Feed Burner first, before you start promoting it. It will give a lot more options for promotion and monitoring. When you sign up (free) it will change your feed address when you complete your profile, and then use that one to promote.

How Come Some People are Allowed to Add their Blog Posts?
I have been noticing on this forum that some people are allowed to post their blog sites. I think kind of unfair that some are allowed to post but others aren't. Be fair to everyone! Remove all posted links since some moderators find it is a form of spamming....or let everyone post their links if they need personal opinions.

The easiest way to create your own blog would be using Blogger. Blog free. Hosting free. You just key in your information and your blog is up.
https://www.blogger.com/start
If you have your own server and prefer to host your own blog, go for www.wordpress.org
Advantage of wordpress over blogger is your control over the blog.

If you have a normal website, you have to submit your updated pages manually to search engines.
If you have a blog, you can program it to "ping" (submit new posts) automatically.
If you have a normal website, your readers have to subscribe to an email address to receive updates that you send out manually through email.
If you have a blog, your readers can subscribe to your RSS feeds and are always updated without you having to do anything extra.
This is the explanation in its most basic sense.

A weblog or a blog is a journal or newsletter that is often updated and intended for general public consumption. We use it to promote a client’s site because a blog can contain information that is instantly published to the web. One advantage of using a blog in SEO is that blogs could be used for link exchange transactions and link promotion. It helps SEO to give the prospect link exchange partner a choice for a 3-way link exchange rather than just a reciprocal link exchange.Since a blog contains articles which are related to the targeted keywords or related to the client’s site services and products, Blogging is a good way to drive traffic to your site. It is used for link exchange and link promotion which helps to find some potential three-way link exchange partner.

I've recently started a blog to help promote my website. I've added that great big ping list and done some social bookmarking. Unfortunately I've more questions than answers. I know they're silly questions, but I'm quite a noob at this blogging and webmastering thing. When you say add a link to your site, is it better to add the link in the content or in then blogroll and will Google find it suspicious if your posts have links to one particular site? Is it any good using two blogs to promote your site instead of one?

Simply start a blog.yourwebsite.com blog where you post important updates regarding your website, plans for the future, etc.
Just head on over to wordpress.org and you're ready to go. After setting up your blog, install some SEO plugins (one for having a different title for each post, one for meta tags and one for avoiding duplicate content) and start blogging.
That's all there is to it,
Alan Johnson
