The biggest mistake most people do when they open a weblog and never connect it with links to main website.

1) Make sure that your header leads to main homepage
2) Make sure you have links to main website in sitebar.
3) Create footer which gives information about your company and main website.
4) Link pages of your main site from your blog posts.
5) Create similar design with your main site.
6) Create link for your blog on your main website homepage and other pages.

your blog must be related to your site as well and you must write an article which best describe your site example about your products or services and then link your blog direct to your site.

How about utilizing free ad sites like craigslist?
Of course, Pay Per Click would be a very fast way.

For me, if i want to promote my blog. i'll create this plan: long term and short term.

short-term : I'll use social bookmark drive traffic to my post and choose only main social bookmark such as Digg.com, Technorati.com and more

If you have a budget try PPC.

Long-term : I'll learn S.E.O. strategies (source live in this web) and try again and again.
