Blogging turns into business.
I created list of 250 blog directories. Back in october-november 2006 it was only 20-25 of them paid. The rest was free and reciprocal. Today i went throught all of them and found that about 40% of tem turned into paid. Some of them charge $20-30 for link. Sad!

Well, when people are able to make money with something they will do.
I am planning to set up a directory, just in a subdomain of one of my domains.
With a free option, and an option to donate or something. But I cant decide which script to use. I have even thought of making it non-php and letting people submit their link and I write it in it manually. But that will be alot of work when I get more submissions.
Sniperhiga, do you have any suggestions for scripts (free preferred for now, since I'm not that well-funded). I'd like it to have an install guide also.. the last one I tried went terribly wrong, I set permissions to the desired dir's, but it still didnt work.

My directory www.manhattanservice.com/directory/ - 100% HTML and i do everything by hand. I bought domain and hosting to open directory using free or cheap script but i can't decide yet.
My suggestion. Pick directory list such as www.directorycritic.com , www.addurl.nu or my www.manhattanservice.com/freedirectories.html Visit some directories and if you like design, script, idea, navigation... click in the footer link of this script and check how much it cost and download it if you like. Most directories keep this link because for link back you can get script cheaper with extra support.

I guess I'll make my own design then. And add it by hand. Will go quicker, and is more personal in my opinion

If you make paid directory, it will have even more value because dynamic and static links is a big difference!

Alllright, thats nice to know
I think I'll give 2 options:
Repricopal (I'll look up how to spell it correctly first )
Paid (being 5euro max or something)
Already got the start of a simple design ready

I support the paid directories. It is to avoid all sort of "free for all" junk stuffs and give way for serious bloggers!

There is so much junk, I get about 20 spam trackbacks a day, glad I have some protection that catches that for me.
Good luck on the paid directory
