Does adding a shout box help to increase traffic? I have been thinking over whether to add a tagboard such as Cbox but I do not know what good will it do?

I totally agreed content matter, other things like promotion, make your blog engine friendly, make your blog easy to find also matters. Do not forget there are hundreds thousands of blogs on the Internet, readers are not short of choices.

No guarantee it would increase traffic but a nice way to make your blog more interactive.

wat about organising a competition on placing links.
Tell the webmasters from around the world to put a link of ur site on their sites, (like the one www.swissworld.org is doin'), rate the link value, give them some award... $10-$20 is enough.
Tell about the competition on forums.. no need to give paid advertisements...

(if u dont want to spend anything, try out by giving the prize to some virtual figure!!!!!!!)
