ways to promote a blog

Blogs are very important things to get traffic to your site.

Search engine love blogs because they get updated daily or weekly with fresh and new content.

So after you enter a post in your blog what are the common ways to promote the blog ?

Here are some :

1. Ping the blog.
2.Update daily / two days gap with fresh new content.
3.Submit the blog to blog submission site.
4.Put signature link in forums you are participating.
5.Join social media site and through that you can promote your blog.
6.Place comments on others blog with link to to your blog.

If you know some different points please add into the list.

1- Visit related blogs and comment. Don't forget to get linked back.

2- Keep the the length of the blogposts short. (But not too short).

3- Try to blog what's much sought for.

4- Have a good number of categories.

5- Highlight the important facts within the blogpost using bold and italic form.

If you don't mind me asking. Why is it that blogposts should be short? Is it because readers might be bored with very long posts?

But by short I didn't mean incomplete posts. Posts should be concise and brief.

I am very new to blogging. What exactly does ping the blog mean? As far as I know that happens automatically in WordPress, which is what I am using. In other words, when I write a post, WordPress automatically lets technorati and others know about the post.

Is this correct?

Also, what is a trackback?

What Qurratulain mean is it helps search engines crawl your page easier with a short but descriptive and informative post! And the mportant words emphasized!

Right, pinging allows the community to display the updated information from your blog on their board.

3. Submit to RSS, Feeds and Podcast
4. Participate in Blogger forum or webmaster forum
5. Ping your blog
6. Join in the social media site
7. Add features such as shout box

I stumble every blog post I make and this usually sends a nice wave of visitors to my blog.

Also submitting articles with a link to your blog in the resource box is another method.

Yeah,, agree with that.. content is all that matters.. so people will keep on coming back to your site once you satisfy their first time visit.
