create a unique content, ofcourse let ur friends, family, neighborhood etc know that you have a blog. its a form of social bookmarking too. referrals are great ...and am assuring you, there'll be visitors coming ... all u have to do is to wait

I am working on it. I've only been doing this for about 6 weeks. I have never attempted blogging before. In time as I learn and get better, they will come.

No, You Tube is free. There are also more websites like YouTube and they are also free.: MetaCafe (you can be paid if your video qualify for that), Revver (they are paying you if someone clicks on an d added to your video), LiveVideo, etc.

Great advice so far. I'd also like to add Twitter into the mix. Twitter is a micro-blogging site where you basically provide updates about what you are doing and which sites you are visiting.

It works really well if you integrate it into your blog. If you're using Wordpress it's really simple to setup a plugin which makes an automatic daily blog post of all your twitter updates.

Anywhere you post a link to your blog, you should also post a link to your Twitter profile. As more people add you as a friend on Twitter you will find more people will visit your blog.

I would agree with that, eXweso, but it's still hard to generate that initial traffic to a blog, even if it has great content. If you have quality content, but don't have some kind of 'scoop' or 'insider story' then it can be hard to get people to come to your blog. Promotion is hard, even with good content.

Here is my version of the equation if you are out to make $$$..

Good content + SEO + PPC, Paid back links, Forum posts to similar niche, banners, etc. = Great traffic and more targeted traffic!

IMO, opting for paid ways contribute well an a good marketing mix especially at getting targetted traffic. In reality, getting 10 targetted traffic is better that 100 random traffic. Getting just mere random traffic doesn't constitutes your site's success - it's the conversion you get from your traffic. Getting traffic is just the first step, offering the right stuff to your visitors and conversion should be utmostly considered.

To sum up, SEO is great for the long run and should't be left out. This is a long process and wouldn't always give you immediate results. Premium ways (PPC, paid links, banner, etc) for faster generation of targetted traffic especially if you have time constraints.

Since cash flow is not available right now, I am going to have to opt for either free or inexpensive methods of getting traffic to my web site. I will continue to work on improving my blog. My technical skills are not there yet and with a full-time job, this means not a whole lot of time is available to me at this time, thus, things will not happen as quickly as I'd like, but in time, I feel confident that I will get the traffic. I don't expect things to happen overnight.
