Does anyone here have a DO-FOLLOW blog?
I was wondering if Do-Follow blogs are popular on this forum. I currently have it set up on my blog, found in my signature, which allows others to comment on posts and receive recip links. Do other people find this is useful way to increase site popularity and participation?

I do on some of my blogs and I'm fairly certain my personal blog does. However, I've never seen real traffic sway from one setup to another. Most of the time it's only going to matter to the geeky web development community anyway, so it doesn't always apply.
Most of my commentors on my blogs don't even have a website.

I have it, I also have that your allowed to comment without registering but I moderate comments before they are published ... I also have askimet .. this filters most of the spams and also allows me to add any spam that comes through the commment section so next time they send it is sent to the spam list. I think that's the best way to run a blog protection and accessbility all in one with easy maintainance... I don't get that many comments ... this is for my wordpress blog on my own domain .. I have a community server blog which is run by a community I belong to so I don't have as much say in the seo aspect but (probably because of the community) I get more comments there ... and those are moderated too ... sadly no spam filter though. Whatever the situation ... in wordpress it should be turned on by default with the option to turn it off instead of off by default with no option to turn it on ... on being dofollow.

All my blogs have this if the comments have value, content to blogs is what this is about. But I moderate all the comments to assure quality.

I have it posted on my site. It has helped my comment range greatly since I am offering my visitors a free PR2 backlink. I think the more participation I get in my site, the more it will help my main page since my blog is a sub page. Also, I want people to use this blog as a gateway for the vast items available on my site.
I also moderate and use akisem as well. If the comment is relevant or bsed I am not going to give credit why would i....it should be mutually beneficial...by the way comment if you would like =)

Vibes63 personally I think your sending the wrong message saying comment here for a free pr2 backlink ... comments should be given when there is something to say the way backlinks are .... when the external site enhances one's own site. I'd not want to go commenting on such sites as your's just for the backlinks .. what would that say about me? Personally I don't think it would do my own site any good .....to be seen in links on many comments subjects over the internet if that is not something I would normally do.... if my subject was your subject it would make sense though.... focused commenting is ok. I feel your encouraging the newbie to comment willy nilly though.. which does not do your rep any good. I don't link or comment according to pr but on the quality of the content and if it enhances my site to do so.. even if its the competition forgive the pun <grin> but your sig line is bad pr - for you... thats just my two pence though.

I have "do follow" on all my blogs and even though I get comment spam, between the custom spam filtering I've written and moderating comments, I don't have any problems.
Anybody looking for a list of over 340 "do follow" blogs, there's a thread listing them here

Yes, I think a do follow technique can increase the popularity of your blog. However, I presume the popularity would be very limited to one time sign up bots and any sorts of spammers.
Long term impact on popularity can have only other marketing approaches such as viral marketing.

I do have this one, but I don't allow comments unmoderated. Or else you'd be susceptible to spammers and no-brainer comments.

My blog is also do-follow. I don't care with PR leak as long as I get good traffic. I allow people to comment with my blog with their links as long as the comments are related. Anyway I set my blog comments to be moderated to avoid comments spam.

Rather than inviting all spamers over, why not have a "top commentators" plugin and only reward your most active users, the ones which actually add value to your blog? I'll definitely be implementing something like this in the near future.

Increase Backlinks with DoFollow Sites
DoFollow is simply a term given to web pages or sites that are not utilizing NoFollow. NoFollow is a hyperlink attribute (much like the "ALT" or "TITLE" tags) that tells search engines not to pass on any credibility or influence to an outbound link.

That's an interesting idea... I also have a do follow blog but at the moment commenters are still scarce to have 'top commentators'...

My blogs are all do follow and I also encourage the no time limit on my personal blog here.
