Question New Blog, Now What To Do
Started this blog about a month ago while my .com site is being built (for release in jan 0.

I was considering starting a contest to attact more traffic. what do you think?

If you need quality traffic then build links with related sites to get targeted visitors.

Once you have at least 5 posts, start submitting to blog directories and submit your RSS feed to RSS sites. Also submit to social bookmark sites, especially Digg and Del.icio.us

visionedger, you have many solution here. Submiting sites to blog directories and simple directories of course, Put it on forums as latest blog, and of course use your social bookmark skills. Recomended sites. Digg, Del.icio.us and Mr.wong.

Don't forget blogging communities like technorati and MyBlogLog.

MyBlogLog seems to be quite popular amongst the high traffic blog communities.
Try it out, and see if you don't get some new visitors.

A contest?if your blog is related to games or sport it will do but if you really want to have more traffic I suggest to keep your contents updated and then do a link baiting that will help.

More and more backlinks could be a good start. Focus on building backlinks that will also help in your SEO.

Even if you start a contest, you would still need to get the word out Linkbuilding could help you with that.

Contents always come in first place, then start building your backlinks which is related. Announce the good news of contest to some forums, friends, blogs about your contest, as 1 spread 2, 2 spread 4 and so on.
