Blog subscriptions: email vs RSS

I am one of the people who does not have or use or understand what an RSS reader is. It might be called Really Simple Subscription, but I think there's nothing simpler than subscribing to follow a blog by email.

Today I figured out how to provide [link removed].

Here's my question. For non-technical users, do you tend to get more subscribers signing up by email or RSS?

Use both methods. Some people won't know how to sign up for traditional RSS. Some people won't want their inbox filling up with updates.

Email sign ups do increase subscriber numbers show more because they are listed every day whereas RSS readers only list the subscribers who check that day.

Offering both options are better. Also you wanna burn the feed through feedburner or similar.

you can provide both but for people who choose to sign up through email, they are the more loyal readers and your blog is entertaining enough for them.
