What is the best program to stop blog Spam?

if you moderate the comments which slip past akismet, it is more than enough.

Akismet has caught over 1200 spam comments for me (since nov '07)

Only 2 spam comments ever got past it. Works a charm!

Akismet is fantastic, but not perfect, make sure you moderate your comments and look at what's been deleted falsely. Currently Akismet has blocked 6 digits worth of spam from my blogs...which I thank God I didn't have to do manually.

my goodness, I don't know if you should be happy or angry with 6 digits worth of spam. Apparently, your blog is attractive enough.

Re captcha is the best I've found. It's available for wordpress and many other blogging software (i use serendipity) See how I've integrated it into my blog here (bottom of page):

yes, recaptcha is good. I used it for sometime, but then decided not to use it, because ppl may not like to post comments. I am using htacess to prevent bots. So my spam comments have reduced significantly.

Well.......I think adding an option of human verification and also having "no-follow"attribute for links coming through posting comments will sure help to stop blog spam.

akismet does block a lot of spams you know this day have auto posting or auto commenting around in this internet world, so spam will not be stopped
