Anyone experienced promoting blogs to gamers?

I have to agree with that. I have also seen people make the flash games and distribute them free. Each game would display the companies name and web address as part of it being free. Hard to ignore the website address when it is at the beginning of a game.

What you could do is advertise in game, not sure the rules for WoW on advertising, but when I played, I always saw people advertise, or when you're in a party with someone on a quest for example, just give out the name at the end.

That's spamming and those people are reported almost immediately and then their accounts are banned. I wouldn't suggest that.

I play as well everyday and this would be spamming and against the TOS of blizzard and would result in a ban of the account in question. Not to mention would eventually get your site sued by blizzard who is cracking down on just these types of people.

you better look for the games forum and participate on them, it is easy to promote a blog when you're on the right track...

I play WoW and you can try doing some flash of the bosses in your blog and spread it in the offcial forums. Something like this one:

It gets a lot of attention, helps the players and get tons of visits and relevant traffic for your blog.

Hey, I am promoting blog for CheatMasters dot com site. Website online since 1994 but they open their blog only 7 month ago. They also have 50 000+ visitors per day. Working for this guys I found that it is pretty easy to promote blogs for gamers.

- Most social sites have category for gamers. You can submit your bookmarks right there.
- Many kids come on your site and they click everything... including Google AdSense, Affiliate links, Product pages.
- Kids who use social networks love to visit categories for gamers.
- Traffic from google comes pretty fast because gamers type bunch long tail keywords with specific words which familiar only to crazy gamers. In this case content is a king like never before.
- People comment pretty often because they are always disagree with the way you play, post, and explain stuff (everyone plays different and use different tricks). Once, some kid wrote 10 paragraph essays as his comment.
- It is easy to attract this kids and convert them in regular readers.
- It is easy to get backlinks from other gamers because most of them 15 years old and don't know all this SEO tricks. Just write them email and they link you right away.
