Stumbling Your Blog For Increased Traffic

Stumbleupon has been proven to be one method to drive traffic to your site.

An important metric that determines your capacity to attract advertisers and even aid you in link selling (gasp!) is Alexa.com. ReviewMe, Text Link Ads and Sponsored Reviews are just three of the networks which base your ad selling strength on Alexa Ranks.

Alexa provides information on traffic levels for websites. Your Alexa rank is measured according to the amount of users who’ve visited a website with the Alexa toolbar installed.

"Stumbling" will bring huge numbers of visitors to your website. The amount of increased traffic will have an enormously positive impact on your Alexa Rank. Therefore, you will need to develop link worthy material.

Other than fellow "stumblers" surfing across your site, there is another method to increase your stumbled traffic. That technique is to announce to others that you have something worth stumbling.

Stumbling became a popular activity on webmaster oriented forums. Digital Point became an immensely popular venue for fellow stumblers to meet and notify one another of their sites. Unfortunately, the activity grew to such proportions that the DP moderators, looking at their server traffic, discontinued the process.

Other sites sprung-up to fill the void. One such site is

Social X Change | Making Great Friends With Social Networks

which exists to promote friendships among users of social networks.

Navigate to this site to promote your sites thorough "stumbleupon" friendships.

In my opinion, StumbleUpon isn't that great because all it does is drive a one-day spike of visitors to your site who never visit again. It's better to have reccurrent visitors.

This is interesting! GIR, in your experience, what are some alternative ways you can recommend to not just drive traffic but to have a dedicated readership?

It is certainly worth giving it a whirl as it is free after all results have been mixed in my experience with lots of once only visitors.

Stumble Upon sent me to over 17,000 uniques for 5 days straight, this resulted in some of my post being linked to from forums and other venues, now my stumble traffic is down, but over all traffic is up.

I agree and disagree...I mean yes big spikes of traffic are good, and reccurrent traffic is even better.

but big spikes of traffic that are cheap to free can help a website so much, especially sites trying to sell something.

I don't see anything of stumble exchange on the site www.social-x-change.com. All I see is an website titled "Daniel Hester - Lending Consultant" which is a totally different subject.

Traffic was not the reason why DP no longer allows bookmarking exchanges, selling, etc.

stumble upon is great and their users are excellent traffic, better than most SB sites. I get most of my posts featured for their tag, brings in a couple hundred visitors

I find stumble upon traffic or any other social bookmark traffic is hard to monetize, after getting a day or two spike of visitors...nothing again, though worth a whirl since it free.

thanks for the info all.

Can anyone be specific about what you actually need to do though? I am guessing you need to create an account and add your own blog, correct me if I'm wrong but before anyone reads / see it don't other people also need to stumble it?

If so, how do you get other people to stumble it and not just yourself?

cheers
