What is this new buzz about blogs with rel nofollow turned off.. Links from blogs with nofollow removed can help in PR. ANy idea where I can find em?

Links left in the comments of blogs without the rel=nofollow attribute have some PR juice. It's nothing new. Here's a list of some 'dofollow' blogs:

if you turn off nofollow in your blogs, spammers come and s h i t all over the comment area, you have to be careful and do some moderating

sorry if this is a newbie question: with dofollow blogs do you need to put your website link in the message area of your comment or just in the field for your URL / Website?

Another question, can you link with anchor text from a comment? I.e. 'comment blah blah, checkout this <site...anchor text>'. If you can, do you just ensure the link is the anchor words you want to use?

you can do both, use a good name and put a link in the URL field, it will show a good link from the name you supply. this looks more natural and not spammy, but as i know this is only possible with wordpress blogs, for bloggers you have to make a hyperlink within your comment as your name will yield your blogger account

That's right.
Try not to make it too spammy otherwise your comment will be moderated (or dumped).

Gah..why do people do nofollow.
It doesn't really stop spam since some search engines do actually utilize those nofollow links for something (keyword identity, link velocity, etc.)
It seems unethical, since the ones who don't know won't get anything from it, and the spammers will still prevail..

Just remember that blog comments - nofollow or dofollow - will get you visitors as well. It all depends on how insightful and helpful you are in blog participation. Don't ever spam just to drop your links. Blog owners detest that.

Even though its a nofollow blog, It can slightly help your own blog too.

Commenting on nofollow blogs neither help nor hurt a website ranking in search engines but still they can bring some human traffic. “NoFollow” links do not affect a website search engine position.
