Blog promotion in "answer sites"

My client (world famous doctor) spent a lot of time answering questions on this sites... Even with his free medicine advices he got only "Thank you!" and no traffic. Anyway, he is helping people.

Just like other kind of promotion, make sure you make a relevant/good/quality posts/answers and make sure answer the questions and not just promote.

I do see some traffic from yahoo Answers. I only post there maybe once a week. If you are chosen as "best Answer" by the poster, you can receive residual traffic for months after answering a question. Nothing staggering, but worth the effort. No need to get crazy and spend hours on it.

By the way Google Answers is closed.

This is a key point form my 18 months experience on Yahoo Answers as a Top Contributor.

Most of the readers/users in my Category (aquariums/fish) are under 20 and most are simply not interested in reading any back up or outside information, they just want to be "spoon fed" and worse they often want answers that are what they want to hear, not the truth.

Another problem is Yahoo Answers (again in my category) is infested with Trolls and "wanna bees" that slam your answers with no evidence to back themselves up (even though I would back myself up with well researched non-anecdotal articles/resources). This got to be just too much for the less than 1% return for so much work.

Again, I can only speak for my category, but I would not recommend Yahoo Answers for ANY serious professional person.

yes im doing wiki answers and yedda it is a 2 in 1 result. i get traffic and backlinks by answering some questions and i also help people by providing useful and informative answers to their questions.
