Suggestions on pinging blog
I started a blog 4 months ago. This is all new to me but the other day I was comparing my site with a site ranking higher and noticed he had a meta description and keywords on his blog.
I've added them today to my blog. I have about 400 posts. Should I be pinging all the pages again so that google can find the updates and rerank them hopefully.

^Ping only once you updated your page. (Mostly, it pings automatically).

I use WP, but I've had disabled the automatic ping, I prefer to do it manually using pinggoat.

If you are using wordpress, then it automatically pings to the search engines. Why not prepare a sitemap!

it's nice to learn that Word Press automatically pings to the search engines.

Ping once and then ping each time you have an update. Here's a good pinging site: autopinger.com.

If you are using wordpress as your blog host, pinging of your blog will be automatically done. Unlike blogspot that you need to ping it every updates.

I don't think it will be a problem. But why would you ping it twice? Curiosity?

You'll receive this message if you ping it more than once
"You're pinging too fast" ..."Your last ping was less than a few minutes ago"
(Pingomatic)

haha I've got that message when quickly pinging squidoo pages after updating a few at a time Just have to wait a few minutes then do it again on the next lens/blog/whatever.

Yeah... Don't need to ping it twice. Once is enough. Some pinging sites takes time to ping but some, few seconds is enough.

I don't think it would hurt, but it probably doesn't help. If search engines penalized you for pinging too much, folks would use it as a tool to attack the ranks of competitors.
