If you want full control over it then put it on your own domain. Next best option would be blogger, mainly because you can put adsense on it

I prefer wordpress but you would need to put it on a hosting account to have full control. Do you have any experience with any blogging platforms?

A self hosted Wordpress blog on your own domain is your best option. There are countless things you can with wordpress. Besides I just lost 2 of my blogs after working on them for more than 18 months. They were on the wordpress blog hosting website. Thats mydomain.wordpress.com

If you are very new and really don't have any serious plans for your blog then blogger.com would be suitable. If your planning on doing a lot of seo and linkbuilding and are willing to learn then wordpress is best hands down especially with the amount of plug ins.

I believe it entirely depends on your purpose. If the blog is for personal use and you have very little knowledge about blogging, then I suggest you use blogger. I find blogger as the easiest to learn and use for beginners. You can even put Google Adsense and earn extra $$ of your own

On the other hand, if you wish to create a professional blog like creating an official blog for your website, then you can use WP for that. You can go for andrewmartins07's suggestion in self hosting a WP blog in your domain, it would be the good way. You can also join affiliate programs and use your WP blog, or even your blogger blog

Wordpress is the way to go. You will eventually end up using it so you might as well get use to it now.

Definitely should consider Wordpress. It's easy to use and it's more professional if you're self-hosted.

This is definitely right. Choosing which blog hosting you should use on your blog will basically depend on your purpose as well as on your knowledge or skill in blogging..

If you're just new in blogging, then it would be a good start to use blogger.com because it's easy and simple to use. You can create a new post, change its widget, layout etc.., even though you're not well-versed in coding..

However, if you have much knowledge on coding like php and css, then you can jump over to WP.

I have 20 Websites and have Wordpress on each Website. I love wordpress because of:
1> Easy Availability of Plug-ins.
2> SEO optimised software.

Wordpress.org is a very good and one the best and majorly used blogging platform but of course you will have to spend some bucks for web hosting and domain name.

If you are looking to start blogging without spending a penny then go for blogger it's also a great blogging platform and Google loves crawling it.
