WP Plugin question

I'm using Google XML Sitemaps. I've posted my question on wordpress forum, but no reply.

First, I was getting this error when checking the sitemap:

I followed the steps recommended here except deleting log error file b/c I couldn't find it.

It didn't work. Now, I'm getting these errors in addition to the other error:

# There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable. Learn more
# There was a problem writing your zipped sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable. Learn more

I followed the "learn more" instructions and uploaded .txt files with 777 permissions but still not working.

Any help sooo appreciated!

There might be a problem with your blog instead... try to use another sitemap and see if you still have an error.

Upload a dummy blank file with extension .XML and .XML.GZ on your root directory. Then try to generate sitemap manually from XML Sitemap Generator. Don't forget to provide allow to write permission code 777. It should work now.

You may want to use http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ to create your sitemap. This is a free tool, and it really works great. I have used it several times.

Buddy did you try with blank XML and XML.gz files. Reply so that we can understand whether the problem resolved.

I think you have to make 2 txt files, rename them to the xml and xml.gz extensions, upload them to the wordpress root and chmod to 666.

You have to use some kind of text editor because programs like word insert their own code into the file.
