Before blogs, you would have to create a website using HTML, a coding language that told a web browser where to put a picture, where to put a paragraph and how to format it, etc.

Think of a blog as a website in a box, ready to go with very little tweaking. The code has been written, the graphics already laid out but still adjustable so you can customize it, change the colors, etc. With a blog, you can upload a blogging program, customize it, and be using it in less than 10 minutes.

Because of all the cool stuff listed above, someone can upload a blog and "have a site" with ease. This makes it easy for people to have a forum to share their opinions, wisdom, and knowledge. Search engines love Wordpress (a type of free blog program) because it is SEO friendly. Hope that helps. I will have a site up within a week or two called FreeWebsiteBlog.com. I'll begin providing a free service setting up blogs. All someone has to do is sign up for a hosting account through one one of my links from popular hosting companies like HostGator, LunarPages, WebHostingPad, etc, many of them with discount coupons or codes.
