Deciding which comments to add to blog

I have a pretty controversial website with about one thousand new visitors a day. I have to monitor what people say on my blog because people can be pretty nasty considering the controversial topic being discussed on my site. I feel like I am Big Brother policing my website, but people will say anything online since they think they can get away with it.

Does anyone else have this issue?

My website is http://wesleyvanjohnson.com It's been up and running for about five weeks.

Welcome to the community! You are absolutely right, it can be a tough decision. My best advice would be to to allow people to speak their mind, provided they do so with respect, rather than from the mindset of spreading hate. You could even add some text that you do not approve disrespectful or hate type comments.

Thanks Cricket! I've done that on some level but because there's so many people who are passionate about the topic, without a doubt someone puts personal information about other posters and it sometimes takes me a bit to find these violations. I also have a disclaimer on the site. But thanks for the advice, it certainly would be helpful if I didn't have so many nuts on my site LOL

Smiles, since we get into some pretty controversial topics in one of our forums here, I definitely understand where you are coming from. It takes patience and a lot of moderating.

amazing how you have managed 1000 new visitors per day! wish i could achieve that. what blog software do you us? perhaps you can try a plugin that will help moderating comments and make it quicker?
