If the usage of JS and its implementation are done correctly there is no problem.

To much javascript on your page will cause the page to load slow which is not good for a site.

Not really correct.

Combining/minifying JS can be done with plugins (e.g. W3 Total Cache) and that will speed up loading instead of loading several JS files.

JS that is not used should be "deleted" anyway.
