I don't know if either has any important security issues - blogs seem safer than forums like phpbb in that regard.

I like WP membership system and other spam prevention things. It's hard to say for sure because I use Wordpress 2.1 but MT 2.64 which was made 2+ years ago. Working on an update, but have to decide if i should go MT 3.2 or WP 2.1...

I adore MT because the administration section is phenomenal, IMO
