Bloggers: Comments or No Comments?

Just curious for all you bloggers on whether you allow comments or no comments on your blog(s)?

I've been getting nothing but spam on my blog, so I decided to turn comments off so I can focus more on promoting it rather than dealing with spam.

Mine are turned off for when you create blog posts. If you want someone to comment on your blog post then during the creation of the blog post, they need to put a checkmark on allow blog comments.

I like to post comments on other peoples blogs because they the ones who have to sift through all the spam comments daily. LOL

Same problem was here. I have some wordpress blogs and I allowed blog comment in some popular post but when I visited to approve then I saw these are completely spam and postrf comment on my blogs only for promoting their links. So finally I turn comment off on my all blogs.

I pick thru a handful of comments that seem to be real from legitimate sites and dump the rest.....
Usually keep 10 to 20 out of several hundred per day....

So after 2 days, I find myself sitting here considering turning comments back on for my blog.

For what reason, I have no idea. I guess I kind of miss the interaction with the people that leave proper comments.

Why would you dissalow comment on your blog? its free and fresh content for your posts
Akismet usually does a good job of filtering the spam, if youre using Wp that is

Well to be honest, the only comments I was getting on my blog were spam ones from paid spam link builders and other various SEO gurus that think spamming blogs is good for SEO.

So that is why I disabled them, however as I previously mentioned on my other post in here I do miss the interaction of author/visitor via comments.

I miss talking to humans on my blog when i enable comments once and awhile. I spend more time banning IP's then replying to comments. lol

Getting a blog comment on your blog is a good thing because someone actually likes your blog.

That's a great reason to allow blog comments. Receiving blog comments from people who really likes your blog.

However, this is a greater reason not to allow it.

From my point of view it is better to allow comments and have spam than not to have comments at all. You will have to check your blog every day and delete all spam.

My comments are turned off.

If I want feed back, I link the article to a related forum post. If someone wants to comment they can register a forum account and post their comments there.

Yes I allow comments .. Why ? I just feel good each time I found many comments, it makes me feel like I'm writing something very good and very informative and that people like it or dislike it, but takes them to have an opinion of what I write which mean that => They care about it

I had to disallow comments as I am now getting thousands of spam comments daily and not many of them are legit comments. Also, the spam plugins don't seem to work so well...

Allowing comments is good for SEO if you use a plugin to index each comment, so yes, use comments.

Comment Spam, generally happens in blogs. I think you should never turn off your comment box rather make the comments awaiting. And approve those comments which you feel perfect or no spam.
