Hacks / plugins for WP

So what hacks / plugins are you guys using for your wordpress blogs?

Right now I have a few that I can't quite get to work... but I got the Jack Handy Deep Thoughts plugin to work... and is it schweet... I love refreshing my own pages just to read the next deep thought

I know there are plugins that I should be using... What are they?

right now the non functioning ones are...
Dan's Avatar Thingy - but Colleen mentioned a Gravatar... (sounds like a better choice)
Google Sitemaps - some-thing's not right there... dunno.. I'll have to play around with that one....

I did just get the PodPress plugin installed... so now "In Theory" I could do a pod cast with video / audio (like anyone would want to see me on their iPod

) I could always have Melanie read it with some Barry White in the background

- still not sure how I'm going to test this plugin - Anyone else use it?

Ok... I have a favor to ask...

I don't own an iPod... but I just did my first podcast... can one of you with an iPod tell me if you can hear the Start/Stop song by The Pale Pacific in the blog?

Hey Neo.. I added the autometa plugin.. I think it's a waste.. The keywords that it was pulling was, there, then, this, it, me, etc.. WTF LOL Google eliminates them. Also I installed the marquee. But when you validate the page, it gives you 10 errors because of that marquee. So I took that off. I use a plugin called Filosofo Home-Page Control. It directs any page with the slug "home" to be your home page. It's a lot easier than having to go through your .htaccess to do it. With one click you have your home page. And I use intouch for the contact form.

I almost have my site finished as far as the layout goes. I am looking to add more plugins though.

Plugins, hmm, well I enabled the "database backup" plugin.

I use the one to remove "nofollow" from comments.
I use the one to show the latest comments, in the sidebar.

That's all, I think.

Just did my first PodPress plug-in the other day and about 15 minutes ago I tested the Media Insert with a funny guy from MADtv doing a G.W. Bush / Bill Clinton impersonation :p REALLY FUNNY! Let me know if any of you can't view it.... and the plug-in was less than a 2 minute install so I'd give it a rating of Easy

I do static front page and site map on mine. I don't how, but Ainslie Johnson got each category to list all the permalinks up top before displaying excerpts from each one.

Ok... I figured I'd update my current plug-ins

I tried Colleens store plug in and couldn't get the AJax to work??? gave up...moved on

During the Indie virus spreading around I ran across the "DoFollow" plugin
And I just got some schweet audio compression software (on the blog you can hear my lame ass attempt at a welcome message) and a song of the week... this is frickin Schweeeeet when it comes to compression and load times - since it's streaming it loads immediately, and that song in the song of the week section was 3.2mb reduced to 592kb

Just got another good one... I'd seen this somewhere before and just never got around to searching for it... it's very simple to use and install is >1 min ~rating too easy.

this (1 .php file) when installed in your plug-in folder and activated in your wp admin panel allows you to leave technorati tags not only at the end of your blog but also allows you to tag words IN your blog - very cool
