automotive blogs
hey guys i am trying blog commenting to get backlinks to my forum, and have a few questions. is it important for me to comment only on blogs that have to do with cars? cause the only car blogs i can find are nofollow and the ones that are dofollow require moderation and never accept my posts as they think its spam or something. and all the popular ones from like magazines and like TopGear require you to sign up so you cant get backlinks. so does anyone know any good dofollow car blogs i can get a lot of quality backlinks from? or should i just post on other random dofollow blogs that dont have to do with cars?

SuperCar - I'm sorry that you are having so much difficulty finding the right kind of backlinks. You have to treat blogging like a social network. You should network and build relationships with other bloggers. Sure a blog may not offer dofollow backlinks initially but if a blog owner sees you as a true reader of their blog who also engages with others through commenting with relevant and noteworthy comments, you begin to build a relationship with that blogger and instead of just getting comments with dofollow backlinks back to your site, they'll ask you to write a guest post and allow some dofollow links back to your site.
Linking is hard work and is not as easy as just posting comments on a bunch of blogs. It takes time to build up the quality relationships you need to get the quality links to your site that you desire.
Once you make a relationship with a high authority blog/site, you'll likely be introduced to others by that blogger.
Good luck!

What are you using to check your backlinks? Are you using Google Webmaster Tools? Majestic SEO or SEOmoz?

You should use Google Webmaster Tools. It will not only show you your backlinks but also the anchor text that links back to you as well which is super important. You could also use Majestic SEO for this as well, another really great tool to have.
There is no rhyme or reason why you see a certain number one day and different the next. All you can do is manage them so that you not only get them but they are quality links that are linking to you properly.

okay so i have webmaster tools and the first thing i notice is my top keywords do not even have to do with my subject so how can i get my top keywords to be "supercar" "performance car" and "exotic car" would it help if i put invisible text at the bottom of a post and just type those words a ton? and then for links it says total links: 3328 and linked pages: 32. but then it says 3324 of the links come from supercarsanctum.com??

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Do not put invisible text on any page of your website. That's a sure way to get your site blacklisted.
There are many reasons both onsite and off site that a search engine would rank your website. One thing that would help you is just as I suggested earlier, you need quality links from quality relationships with the right anchor text leading back to your site.

For the links that are coming from your own website, those are likely internal links. It's how all of your pages link together. You many have numerous links on one page that link to other pages in your site/forum and on each page there must be a number of links.
No Follow links are just that...no follow links. You'll want to get more do follow links to your site because those are the ones search engines, 'follow' back to your site.

We know it's hard to get dofollow backlinks, but you should really establish some presence when blog commenting because it is not really easy to get the dofollow links.

Generally speaking auto article submissions are not good. Search engines, Google especially want to make sure that the results delivered to web users are human created, making them more relevant. I don't suggest using a auto submission software.
SEO is not easy work. There's a lot labor involved to do it the right way.
