Making my blog a paysite

Hi guys. I have a blog and I've developed quite a following it seems. I was wanting to know how I would go about making my blog a paysite. Like pay to view or whatever. What good companies could make that happen for me? I can use HTML and I could probably design the site myself but how would I do the visa/paypal thing. I'm really new at all this. Thanks.

I don't know. I was just wondering how it was done. It's possibly a bad idea after thinking about it.

Ok, here's the deal. I do get a lot of readers of my blog. Anyway, I want to keep the blog free but charge for videos that I will be doing. They would just be videoblogs essentially. I don't know quite how I would do this. It would have to be some kind of video streaming. I looked at http://www.camtix.com/ and that looks like what I need but how do I make it so that they pay and get a username/pass and stuff.

You could use a paypal button and assign them a username & password to the blog once they make payment.

Im not sure if there a plugin that you could use to auto assign a username to the person that made the payment. If not it seems like a good idea.

If your setup to receive paypal payments youc an easily setup a subscription service through paypal, that would automatically bill the visitor X amount of dollars per month or whatever. You could then simply password protect the posts with your video content and email those subscribers the password, then just change password every month. Also, if I'm not mistaken you can have PayPal assign a unique username and password, so that you could make this all automated.

Just an idear.

I would seriously advise AGAINST it....Even the most successful online companies, like Yahoo! and Google, don't require payment for their blogs as well as numerous other SUCCESSFUL blogs, like Engadget....

But to answer your question, you would need to make it password protected and offer the password to those who pay..Otherwise you would need to do a script which tracks IP Address and bills the PayPal or Credit Card Account....

I would look at other ways to monetize your traffic, first...

But for setting up a "paysite" I would recommend http://www.amember.com

I agree with Lynn. If you start making your blog payable, you will see the traffic to your site fall drastically. What you need to do, is try to cash on your traffic.
You can offer Ads through Google Adsense and also sell some advertising space.

I personally would never pay to read a blog. For any blog with specific content that I am looking for thier is 5 others with almost the exact same content.

Why not try a 'donate' button to see if people really apreciate your articles and want to encourage you to keep it coming. If you don't get a single donate, then you will have your answer.
